FASTJET F640 and F650 for QR Code and Barcode Printing

Select a QR code or barcode printer from the actual encoded data, available print area, packaging surface and production speed. FASTJET F640 and F650 CIJ printers should be compared using the same real production samples.

Non-contact coding on production lines

Both models use continuous inkjet to print without contacting the surface. Applications to evaluate include PET, PE, PVC and metal packaging. Match the ink, print position and printhead distance to the material and working conditions.

F640 or F650?

The F640 supports a maximum 25-dot matrix and up to three lines in supported formats. The F650 offers up to a 34-dot matrix, up to four lines in the specified 7×5 format, a separable display and additional printing modes. These character-line specifications do not guarantee every QR code size or data payload.

Start with the actual encoded data

Send the text or URL to be encoded. Data length, character set and error correction affect the QR code's module count. Do not select a machine solely from its dot count. Confirm the required barcode symbology and software support.

Leave room and verify the result

Allow the required quiet zone around the symbol and avoid seams, excessive curvature or nearby artwork. Test the actual code using the intended phone, scanner or inspection camera. Check both successful reading and the decoded information.

Test at production speed

A speed quoted for a short text message is not a guaranteed speed for a two-dimensional code. Test code dimensions, ink, surface and speed together, then repeat the reading test after conveying and packing. Where an approved regulatory code is needed, provide the approved data for that product.

Frequently asked questions

Do both models support QR codes?

The brochures list QR and barcode support. Suitability for your code still depends on data, symbol size, surface and speed.

Is a readable code automatically compliant?

No. Verify the data structure and any customer or standards-based quality requirements separately.
