Where Should Expiry Dates Be Printed on Bottles, Caps, Pouches and Cartons?
A practical date position must be permitted for the product, easy for customers to find, and readable after packing and during sale. Check product-specific labelling requirements before finalising it.

Make the location clear
If the date appears away from its explanatory wording, check the applicable guidance and identify the location clearly, such as the bottle base. Avoid vague directions that leave customers searching the whole package.
Bottle bases and caps
Assess curvature, access for printing and whether the code remains visible. A date on a cap may be hidden by wrapping. Trial the complete package rather than an empty bottle alone.
Pouch seals and folds
Check whether sealing, folding or opening affects the date. A mark that breaks up or becomes unreadable in normal use is a poor production outcome. Test on the actual film and packing process.
Cartons and outer packaging
Distinguish the consumer unit from the shipping carton. Confirm which information belongs on each and whether labels, tape or pallet handling obscure the code.
Approve both wording and print quality
Check the product's required Thai wording and format; supplementary English should not be assumed to replace it. Test contrast, character size, drying or mark quality and post-process readability. This guide supports production planning and does not approve every product's label.
Frequently asked questions
Can I print an expiry date on the bottle base?
It may be possible, subject to the product's rules and clear, readable presentation. Test the final package.
What information helps choose a position?
Provide the product category, material, desired location, line speed and photos of the package as sold.
